Identica: Shader Replacement Dance Event


The identica dance event takes place Friday April 24th 2026. This is an experimental three hour event, with an emphasis on body language, movement, and light.

This world uses a complex system of cameras and layers to render the entire 3D environment with one shader.

When your shader is replaced, your main texture, color, normal maps, smoothness, metalic, and packed specular maps will be used, but any other settings or textures will be ignored, and every enabled mesh will render opaque.

If you have glasses or other materials you need to be invisible, you can download the shader below and enable the shader keyword _MODE_ZEROPOS_ON . If you're already happy with how you look in the test world below, you're good to go!

Shader Specifics:
Normal maps have their own tile/offset, and won't use the _Maintex transforms
We're intercepting Poiyomi's packed maps for Smooth&Metal, and nothing else.
R is metalic map, G is Smoothness map, B is reflection, A is specular.
if you use a white and black mask, it will stop both metal and smoothness
if you don't include a mask, only _Smoothness / _Metallic sliders will be used (0 = not at all smooth, 1 = very smooth)
_Smoothness (most shaders), _Glossiness (VRChat standard lite), and _MochieRoughnessMultiplier (poiyomi locked) are all refferenced in-world, only the highest value will be used

Only light probe data is used, When testing in Unity, try Hai's Lightbox Viewer to get some lighting
